Launceston Showground

The Royal National Agricultural and Pastoral Society of Tasmania Limited (RNAPS) is a non-profit publicly listed company, registered in Tasmania and limited by guarantee that since 1873 has held an agricultural show in Launceston. Since 1984, that event has been called the Royal Launceston Show following the granting of a Royal decree. RNAPS is one of four regional shows in the whole of the nation with such a charter (the other three are Bathurst, Geelong and Toowoomba). All other Royal shows are in each state capital city and one on Norfolk Island.

The aim of the organisation is to continue to host this annual event and other events such as the annual Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sales and the very successful weekly Launceston EskMarket to give the Society a year round presence. RNAPS is a company that addresses a huge demand for produce and livestock exposition, awards merits of excellence, and promotes rural crafts and services. These essential activities are not met by any other organisation or event in our area. The Royal Launceston Show is currently the third largest event in its sector, after Agfest and the Royal Hobart Show.
