North Hobart Oval |
The North Hobart Football Club has the privilege of playing on the most iconic oval in Tasmania's football history. The famous and much-loved North Hobart Oval is just north of the Hobart CBD.
The first match at the ground was played on 6 May 1922 between Lefroy and New Town in front of 1000 people.
A total of 74 Tasmanian Football League Grand Finals along with various State games in the Australian Football Carnivals have been held at the ground.
North Hobart Oval has hosted three National Football Carnivals; in 1924, 1947 and 1966.
It holds the record for the largest attendance at a football match in Tasmania when 24,968 people crammed into the ground to watch the 1979 TFL grand final between Clarence and Glenorchy.
On June 24, 1990, 18, 653 people flocked to North Hobart Oval for one of Tasmanian Football's greatest days. For just the second time in our history and thirty years after our first win over Victoria we beat the Big V again with Tassie, roared on by the delirious home crowd, racing away in the last quarter for a famous 33 point win.
