Peter Hewitt Care for Africa Foundation |
The Peter Hewitt Care for Africa Foundation was founded in 2007 by Diana Morrison and Dr Peter Hewitt.
The Foundation was established to assist disadvantaged African communities and to provide an opportunity to enrich the lives of young Australians by participating in programs that will greatly improve the health and wellbeing of many needy people in Africa.
The Foundations work is focussed in and around the Tarime district, located in the Mara Region of Tanzania one of the worlds poorest countries. Care for Africas partner NGO is the Tarime Goodwill Foundation, managed by Dr Hudson Winani - whose daughter Mojca - whilst working in the emergency department at the Launceston General Hospital - told Diana Morrison and her colleagues, of her fathers tireless work for the Tarime Community.
The Foundations current work is focussed on several key areas:
WATER
The provision of safe clean water to the people living in communities where there is no or limited suitable water.
EDUCATION
An Education Resource Centre is one of the major educational projects being undertaken by the foundation.
HEALTH
The establishment and maintenance of a community database for the mobile health clinic, to enable continuity of care for outlying communities.
CONTAINER PROJECT
Providing vital medical, educational and life sustaining supplies - with one of our first containers even including a second hand ambulance, now serving as a mobile health clinic.
