Hobart's Salamanca Markes celebrates 50 years in 2022.

Salamanca Market is Tasmanias largest market held every Saturday at Salamanca Place in Battery Point, Hobart.

Hundreds of stall holders fill the long street selling secondhand and new clothes and accessories, jewellery, antiques, collectibles, new and old books, arts and crafts, fresh organic produce, hot food and more, while buskers and entertainers fill the air with music and applause and cheers.

Whatever youre looking for, be it a bargain, coffee and food at Salamanca Square, or simply a great day out, Salamanca Market is the place to head to.

The man behind the Tasmanian institution was Italian-born alderman John Clement, who dreamed of having an open-air market in Hobart like the ones he used to visit in his home country as a child.

Salamanca Market is held every Saturday, except where the day falls on either Anzac Day or Christmas Day, in which case an alternative day is nominated. For Saturday 25 April (ANZAC Day) the market will operate and will instead be held on the Sunday.
