Maydena is located on the banks of the Tyenna River, and offers a leisurely walk to Junee Cave. Mount Field National Park has an interpretation centre, Russell and Horseshoe waterfalls, and lots of well marked walks around Lakes Fenton and Dobson and onto the Tarn Shelf.
Its location makes it the perfect base to explore Tasmanias World Heritage listed south-west, the Styx Forest and Mount Field National Park to see the worlds tallest hardwood trees - eucalyptus regnan.
