The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is a unique cultural tourism attraction, embracing the diverse treasures of art, history and science. Its just a short walk from anywhere on Hobarts waterfront, and features activities suitable for visitors of all ages.
Exhibitions
Learn about Tasmanias history and heritage, explore Tasmanias links with Antarctica, admire important Colonial artworks and even come face to face with a Tasmanian Tiger! There's also a great program of temporary exhibitions that changes year-round, so there's always new things to see.
Family Fun
There's something for all ages to enjoy at TMAG. Young visitors can borrow a Discovery Backpack or Museum Toolkit to help them explore the museum, or simply marvel at the wonders of the Museum Cart. Also keep an eye out for regular Family Days, School Holiday Programs and pARTicipate sessions for more interactive fun.
Free Tours
Free tours for small groups are available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and run for approximately 40 minutes.
