Black Cow Bistro

Black Cow Bistro

The Black Cow Bistro is an up market steak house from the Stillwater team located in the historic Art Deco Lucks Butchery shop in Launceston, Tasmania.

Dishes are designed around fresh, local produce and served in a warm, casual Bistro-style atmosphere with well priced Tasmanian wines and some full-bodied reds thrown in for good measure.

The Black Cow logo has been inspired by the amazing ancient artworks in the Lascaux Caves in France, which carbon dating indicates are more than 17,000 years old.

The name is a tribute to the Bos Genus, which has been historically important to many cultures. For centuries the cow has been seen and worshipped as a symbol of contentedness, fecundity, the passive yet creative and generative powers of nature, patience, nourishment, abundance, fertility and equifinality.

It is also, of course, an excellent source of protein.

Black Cow also offers a semi private table in our wine room that can accommodate up to 14 guests.

Open:
Dinner from 5.30 to late Seven days.
