Burnie Airport

Burnie Airport

Burnie Airport is the gateway to the key Tasmanian wilderness destinations of the Tarkine, Cradle Mountain, Strahan and Stanley.

Situated geographically in the centre of the North-West Coast of Tasmania, Burnie Airport is the closest Tasmanian mainland facility to the major mainland airport of Melbourne.

Almost 2,000 passengers per week utilise Regular Passenger Transport (RPT) services provided by Regional Express (REX) and Tasair, connecting Melbourne, Hobart and King Island.

The Airport is serviced by a Passenger Terminal with cafe facilities, an on-site lock up compound for vehicles (just leave your car keys at the airport kiosk and instructions for parking and delivery), a full-time flying school (Western Aviation), which also caters for scenic and charter flights, five rental car companies (AutoRent Hertz, Avis, Budget, Europcar Delta and Thrifty), a city shuttle bus, taxis, light aircraft maintenance facilities and an aircraft refuelling depot. The Wynyard Aero Club has a strong base of more than 70 members.
