University of Tasmania Stadium | UTAS

The University of Tasmania Stadium is a nationally accredited sporting and events facility in northern Tasmania.

Located just minutes from Launceston's city centre, the stadium hosts sporting, entertainment and private events throughout the year and has a capacity of 19,500.

Formerly known as York Park and Aurora Stadium, University of Tasmania was first opened in 1921 and has hosted first class Australian Football since 1923. The AFL moved fixtures there in 2001, Hawthorn has home games at the venue.

The ground has also hosted VFL games, although the Tasmanian Devils now play most of their home fixtures at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

Launceston City Council announced sponsorship of Aurora Stadium will be taken over by UTAS in a five year naming rights deal, beginning January 1st, 2017.

Car
York Park is located to the north of the Launceston City Centre. There is street parking as well areas at the Inveresk Precinct which are also used for parking.
